Slow food, slow cloth, slow art. This is the mood I am slipping into. Living more fully in the moment is something that has been brewing all year. After years of learning to multi-task, I'm asking myself "Why?"
Though it was very trendy, multi-tasking isn't terribly productive. It takes courage to buck a trend. It's hard not to feel like a loser when all around you are losing their heads proclaiming their extreme busyness. I'm wondering why I should feel any need to make a phone call whilst folding laundry, though folding laundry is second nature. Why not use that time to dream and later give my full attention to the phone call. I spend very few minutes on the phone so probably a bad example for me.
I've submersed myself fully in hand stitching this year and have loved the experience. I won't be throwing my machine out: just finding a balance.
The economy has slowed down, so can we.
An evolution to a slower approach. The invitation to take up your pen, brushes and needles and thread and allow yourself the time to become immersed. To let your attention wander from real life to your own inner world more frequently.
