Megan and I are hitting the dyepots again today. Pokeberry and maybe another round with alkanet. Above are some of the results from our last encounter with silk. From left, cabbage, marigold and pokeberry. We think the pokeberry dye bath got too hot and we're experimenting with another extra mordant tomorrow. Suggestions? The doily is pokeberry as well. Too beige-y.
Megan is starting the indigo vat very soon now that the weather is so fine here. Pop over to Megan's for her pom-pom pillow. Pom-poms are as lovable as kittens in my book.
I used a soy milk mordant on half of the scarves (dump a carton of soy milk in a bucket and cram in as much fabric as you can) and a a basic silk mordant on the other half. No difference between the two. Gawd, the cabbage! It's our favorite so far.
Slow going with the leaf art quilt. The leaves are really based on Jude Hill's Whispering Feathers. My turned applique technique is improving! Practice. I've been so caught up with my journals and painting lately that the sewing projects are back-burnered. You know how that happens, don't you?
