Scroll down if you missed Part 1 of Ziek's journal pages. You'll want to see them.
Words from Ziek:
"There was a great pool of ants forming and dispersing at the base of our front steps. They were very tiny and collectively appeared as a large black area on the walkway, but if we looked closely we could see the movement of all the tiny ants! And then an hour later, voila! They were completely gone. Several hours later, they were back. This went on for days. Finally I got out my book of Native American animal messages and looked up ants. I found that they spoke of patience and this message immediately resonated with something going on in my life at that time. So I made a page of it.
"My art comes from my life. I look for and see inspiration everywhere. In this page, the inspiration was the pale pink tiles in my shower as I was soaking up the hot water while my friend was in Florida during the mid-February school break. I created the shade of pink by mixing acrylic paints and I used a stencil resembling the grid of the tiles."
"This was the time of my daughter's senior prom and graduation. It's about Rites of Passage. The woman in the emerald green dress stands in for my daughter, who wore an emerald green dress for her graduation ceremony. Another flamingo, another dog. Favorite images of mine, seem to find themselves in my pages quite often."
Most of Zieks pages begin with acrylic paint and collage materials. She uses images from magazines and gift wrap as well as purchased materials. Wouldn't you love to see that stash?!

It is an honor to share these pages with you. I come across so much exciting work when out teaching and I treasure the moments when a student hands me a book and invites me to have a look.
Thank you once again, Ziek. You are an art star!
