Yesterday at 4:44 pm Autumn began.
My favorite time of year. The sun is warm but the air is tangy and the best stuff is in bloom. We took an edible plants walk and were introduced to all sorts of tasties that the woods have to offer: ginger root, persimmon, dock (which is really better in spring), Hickory nuts, sorrel to name a few.
These are porcelain berries. They are easter egg colors! An invasive species here in the US, native to Asia and poisonous. But I am in love.
My pictures came out pretty blurry, but I wanted to share some of these beauties with you.
Goldenrod is not allergy producing, just a lot more photogenic than ragweed. It's native in the US and can be used as a dye. So I picked plenty.
