Transform a beautiful vintage book into your next blank journal. This is a simple beginner level book binding project. Using an assortment of papers as the book block will further personalize this journal.
Techniques you’ll learn will be basic bookbinder’s skills: reinforcing a fragile book spine, using a piercing template, pamphlet stitch, and creating and using stencils.
These lovely journals begin as old friends and just get better as you work in them.
Explore the art journal process in true Journal Spilling fashion: scatter words, water, media, inks, gesso, and collage fodder hither and yon with no worries.
Fun Stuff: Fabric, masking and washi tapes, resists, glitter glue, stickers and tabs. And working in layers: “how to layer” and the “why” behind it. Buckle up! There’s a lot to do.
What to Expect: A Wild Me/Quiet Me paper doll and Outing My Critic journal page as well as warm- up Spilling pages. Loads of embellishment ideas that will make your art journal jangle and bulge.
An encouraging atmosphere allows you the space and permission to tap into and strengthen your true voice and quiet your critic.

OMGosh, just found this and can't believe my eyes - your workshop in Lincoln! in my state! and wouldn't you know, it's the same weekend as another major event that requires my presence.
But just in case something changes, I am wondering if the cost includes supplies or if the extra $12 is for supplies . . . or . . . ? And is there any cost break if taking both classes? Maybe I am supposed to direct these questions to the college?

Oh, geez, Barbara. Isnt that always the way things go! I doubt there is a price break for both classes and the $12 kit fee is on top of the class fee. I think there are some supplies to bring - but not many. You could email the college. BUt at any rate, please stay in touch. If you cant make it (and what a drag!) then you can always take my online Rescue Books Class.

me again, Diana. I want to share some info w/you about the cranes (most of them are Sandhill - about half a million all at once on a 75-mile section of river. People come from all over the world to see this once-a-year spectacle. Could you email me please?

and I know I could take the online class, but just once I would like to come to the party! still working on that. I have tons of beautiful old books languishing in two garages that I rescued from dumpsterdom. This would be so perfect for me. sigh. . .
