Instant art journal backgrounds
A quick idea for you. I took some artwork and ledger pages and a bit of very unsticky tape. You could use temporary adhesive or just careful placement. Lay it down on a color copier and make a copy (or 2). I used a cardstock weight white paper.
Nothing particularly new here, but still, I hadn't thought about it for several years. I have some pages in my new art journal that are quite thin. Gluing one of these instant background sheets to the back of the thin paper is fun.
You can make copies of ANYTHING: feathers, old journal pages, your hand, nuts and bolts, leaves, twigs, stitching. I've made copies of fabric which is quite fun. Whatever speaks to you and says "COPY ME!"
If you are copying objects, put them into a clear plastic frame first so you don't scratch the copier glass.
Still slogging along fighting this flu, so blogging may be a bit sketchy.
Thank you, Diana. I hope you feel better very soon.

thanks for the great plastic frame idea for copying objects. I freaked out as I recently copied a piece of metal and some broken sunglasses. Yikes! had to check the glass...phew! all is okay. Wishing you better days soon...know it is not fun that flu thingy.

Glad to help Cynthia! I used to get some very funny looks at the copy shop when I came in with my coffee, picture frame and loads of stuff. Am glad to have a copy/scanner at home now :)

love your stitched leaves; and good idea about the picture frame, it hadn't occurred to me that I might damage the glass!

I guess the idea of the plexi frame occured to me when I was making copies of leaves and feathers in the copy store. Crazy flighty little objects were blowing all over the place. :)

Diana, thank you for sharing ideas that we can build upon to expand our tool box of techniques. I love the texture and dimension added to the paper with printing.
I had never thought to use my printer in this way (although it is just beside my desk). It made me realize once again that I should look at my surroundings with fresh eyes when thinking of what to do next.
