Scurrying around today in between a Monday/Tuesday trip to Maryland and a Thursday-? trip to take care of my auntie.
I managed to make a couple of prints using my new Gelli Artz plate and Golden Open Acrylics. Amazing. Making prints is thrilling for me. I minored in printmaking in art school so this was really REALLY exciting. The cleanest monoprints I've made without a press ever. I am using washi paper and the plan is to turn that into papercloth and do the stitching on it.
I think I need a bigger plate.
In the straight up fabric and stitch, there is more inspiration than there will ever be time to complete ...
The violet and golden in the upper portion of this picture is making me drool ... sun and mountains.
I am off to pack my bag full of stitching while I take over the nursing. Eeegads. I'm a dreadful nurse but my sis, who actually IS a nurse has been there and will train me to take over. I'll bet we do fine! Wish me luck.
Oh Diana, this one has got me drooling!!!!!!!! I want a gelli plate!!!! okay now you know you have to do a video for us ( great big smile) or at least share what you do with that beautiful piece of fabric...ahhhhhh
thinking of you while you are with your aunt.....and you will do fine...
happy thoughts sent your way!!!!!

Diana, that print looks fantastic! I love how the swirls of paint contain so much detail in just the different texture of how it dries... VERY inspiring.
I am a Home Health Aide who used to be a CNA in a nursing home... it is customary to feel nervous regarding taking care of someone when you are unsure of yourself, especially when it is someone you love. But, fear not... it's actually quite rudimentary when you get used to it :) Best of luck!

Oh my- you are one busy gal. I hope all goes well with your aunt. I have to decide on my course for next semester at Bucks County Community College- I was looking at the printmaking. Maybe I'll take it! Your piece came out beautiful. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you take care of your aunt- I'm sure you'll do just peachy- make some colorful prints and hang them where she can see them (that is, if you have time) and be sure to take care of yourself, too. Drink lots of water and listen to music! xoxo

Yummy colors, great idea for papercloth. Never used washi paper though. Lucky you with a Gelli plate. I'm trying my hand with gelatin mix and maybe try dry wax paper (deli paper). Something I learned from Anne Bagby. Will see what happens. Thinking of you and your aunt. You're amazing so all will be well. I'm convinced.

Thank you. I took over from my sister, the nurse so I got a full report and we are doing fine. Its getting the drops in her eyes (cataract, and glaucoma) that is the only difficulty. But is going much better today.
The gelli plate is super. I am really looking forward to making more prints with it!

I love printmaking in any form. What kinds of printmaking are available? What fun!

Oh yes, a video is forthcoming! I will show what I did. Auntie is doing fine, thanks!

Cynthia :) thank you. Ive made plenty of monoprints with a piece of acrylic and freezer wrap but the gelli plate is really fantastic the way it prints up. I am going to experiment with gelatin prints as well. Ive never quite gotten around to it.
