Sometimes my art journaling is neglected. Loads of "backgrounds" started but no follow-through. It takes a little push to take it further. A bit of moodling with no stopping. In other words, when I run out of ideas for a journal page, I need to DO something else. It may be flipping through a magazine or just picking up a new material.
This all began with a gesso'd page, portfolios, caran d'ache, collage, a pen and finally a quote. I did some more on these pages.
Quotes are a great way to break the cycle. I like this one: honor your whim.
As an aside and on the topic of whims, if you had peeked into my window on Friday night you would have seen me attempting to crochet a lace edging onto a hankie. A misguided whim. I finally quit and pulled out some embroidery floss. So don't think the whole hankie thing was a whim. Oh no! More about this another time.
I love this page. The quote is fantastic.

This page is just beautiful. I have a blank at times with backgrounds but, once I get the bug; it flows pretty good.

Sometimes, I'll try and throw something together, without too much thought, but it just never works. Maybe my instinct IS to pre-meditate? LOL... I don't know :) I just really want to make something I'm proud of.

I can always do the backgrounds so wind up making a bunch at a time then go back. Whatever works!

"I need to DO something else" -- I agree! Sometimes just changing the subject for awhile (or the medium or even just the room) can make such a big difference in getting through a "stuck" spot. And what a lovely page! "Snatching from the clutches of your well-organized routine..." Ah, so perfectly said!

Go Girl! I had a lovely weekend journal fest with my supplies spread all around! Paying the bills is necessary. I am working towards part-time at the moment. That is where I want to be and think I can make it - fingers crossed :)
