Oh! And a new class in NYC, Beyond The Background at the Ink Pad.
I may have mentioned the unearthing of artwork around these parts. The trouble all stems from the fact that when called upon to make 2 pieces of art for a show, I start 4 pieces and see what shakes out.
These piles go unsorted because, naturally, there is always something that comes up: A wedding, more artwork, a whim or classes. And I'm thoroughly excited about my latest class, Beyond the Background. Because there is not much in the mixed media art world addressing composition and it will be helpful to all levels of crafters and artmakers.
Graphic Japanese compositions will be included in the syllabus (which is ALMOST complete) and these are some ideas that I'm SUPER excited about sharing. There is a lot of work, research and pushing that goes into the development of a class. There is more information about Beyond the Background at The Ink Pad, NYC.
Maybe it would be helpful to some of you to write a post about class development? Would you like that?
I would LOVE to read a post about class development! I also think it's awesome that you're addressing composition... visual aesthetic is very important when it comes to any art piece.

A class on composition -- how brilliant!! Am dying it to take it but a trip to NY is not in my future. Do you ever get out to Denver, Colorado? I think anything on class development is also a brilliant idea. Then, again, so many of yours are!

I'm intrigued by the idea composition games to take the formality out of learning about composition! I would love to learn more about your course development, especially as I work on my own courses during the summer.

I forget about composition too, because it is a natural to place things in a certain way for most of us. BUT! Good to learn how to improve that

Ideas are easy, Sharile! I have problems implementing them. I could be persuaded to come to Denver. My friend Jill Berry lives out there. Could we put a class together?
