This color studies are from Sharon B's online sketchbook class. I was very happy to get into this class. You may think it's funny that I would take a class like this but there were some new ideas and loads of ideas that I'd forgotten.
This floss matching study was time consuming but really worthwhile to see how many colors appeared in the mixing of a primary triad (red, yellow, blue). I could feel my eyes sharpening up as I sorted through the floss colors.
This is academic art. It's not easy but is incredibly satisfying. I take classes because it's good to challenge myself and keep my eyes sharp.
I found a little sketch in one of my piles and had some fun looking for the main colors and then the floss colors. I'm mixing and matching Sharon's exercises and making up some of my own. The class is over and I now have over 120 pages in pdf's so I can take my time and explore.
Beautiful color combinations! I agree it's good to take classes now and then to gain new ideas and fine tune old ones. Thank you for sharing.

The idea of finding floss to draw out each of the colours is a wonderful idea . . . so many! And a whole book of pdfs! Was it, 'Artists Studio Journal: A Designers workhorse' or something else?
I'm not great with online classes, everything seems to get in the way and if there are real time discussion groups, I'm either at work or asleep! One day, I won't have a day-job and then I can indulge myself regardless of the time of day although a face to face course would suit me better although it's more expensive.

This is a class that I can see you taking. The color and floss is just beautiful. I have tons of old cross stitch floss and will have to give it a try and see if I have any luck with the process. I am not good at making commitments for class unless it is something I really want to learn and master. Keeping grandkids this summer leaves little time for anything. lol

Summer with grandchildren in NC. I hope there is a pool nearby, Barb. Yes, it is a very good class for me. Good luck with the kiddos :)

Yes, that is the course, Wendy. Im not great about interacting the in the courses either. I wasnt crazy about the Yahoo group set up with this one as it required going back and forth to the files to see the student work. I see myself working with this class material well into the fall though. And I have a bit more time now and am really trying to make it a daily practice (well ... sort of :)

Wow, looks like a very worthwhile class! Fantastic results... very interesting. Perhaps it is something I can tweak a little bit and utilize with my little ones... to help them foster their interest in art. Thanks for sharing, Diana!
