Eucalyptus. Yes.
Just lying there on the ground under its tree in San Francisco's Presidio. The husband noticed it in the dark, after dinner, Saturday night. I climbed the fence. Of course I did.
I couldn't see the colors so it was a glorious surpise when we got back to our hotel. My goodness.
Adventures: things both odd and funny happen as I stumble about in my usual way but jet-lagged magnifies things which is only a problem if you find it problematic. I did find Britex Fabrics. Holy Cr*p. Small precious bits of pricey fabrics:
Isn't Britex amazing? I live about an hour east of SF and go to Britex every few years when a friend comes up to visit.
Lovely euc leaves. Autumn is such a good time of year. And I totally would have climbed the fence too. Good for you!

When my children were growing up, I planted eucalyptus tree in my garden. It grew fast and straight and the smell when I mowed the grass under it rewarded me with such a glorious smell. Each spring there were emperor gum moth caterpillars chomping their way through leaves . . . so beautiful but considered a pest here. One night I came out to go to the gate with a friend who had been visiting and the whole side of the house seemed to be papered with the moths which can be up to 6 inches across. It was an amazing sight.
Thanks for the memory jog.
