What could be more humble and accessible than a composition book. *Video embedded below.
If you are a journaling newbie and are feeling intimadated, this is the way to go. Even seasoned journalists enjoy the freedom of simple materials sometimes. It can be easier to get to the bottom of things without all of the extra materials in our way.
The "Eye" was done with charcoal on a gessoed manila folder page. Years ago, Samie Harding aka Journal Girl had a fab bookbinding tutorial using old manila folders and I made one (or two) out of gutted composition books. It's a nice surface to work on.
A page from that book made with my teen journalers. I remember that hot summer night.
In the video, I talk about keeping it simple with stamps, stencils, a touch of collage and then writing. My dylusions journal is being pressed into action as my writing journal. Enjoy!
good morning Diana
sitting here snuggled in my comfy chair with snow covering everything outside my window...
but I sit up and notice when I saw those composition journals.....totally in love with those things. I love making journals, but compositions always will be my favorite! thanks for the video! I might just get up now and get busy. tee hee... you have a happy day!

Between the nostalgia, smooth paper and affordability, they are a classic. I love that speckled cover :) Enjoy your day

Diana
This is an awesome idea for me. You know I am a total beginner and I've been struggling to find something to help me get thru the winter. This will be perfect. I have lots of crafting supplies that I think I can incorporate. Cheers to you. You may have just saved my life. :)

Hey that’s great! Sounds like I should set aside some of my studio giveaways for you. I’ll bring them to lunch next week.

Of course, I went looking for the tutorial! It's called Easy-Peasy Journal and is a 2-part video embedded in the above tutorial. It's probably other places (you tube, etc) as well, but this was the first one I found. FYI

Oh thank you! It was so many years ago, I didn’t even go looking for it. But I remember loving the vid. It was on YouTube that I saw it.
