You folks who are "not artists" are going to love this one. I've been messing around with distress inks, distress markers, Tombow Markers and rubber stamps lately and have come up with a few techniques that will give you a painterly look. *Video is below
For this technique, you will need decent watercolor paper, distress inks, distress and/or Tombow Markers. All of the supplies are linked below. The trick is to stamp with a light colored ink such as the Pumice Stone or Antique Linen and then fill in color. You can also use a darker color, I used Mermaid Lagoon on the butterfly.
The best stamps to use here are outline stamps. You stamp with the distress ink and then pull the color down with a brush and water (or water brush).
I like to go around the image with a gray or other light colored marker and then blend it out. It makes the edges of the stamped image disappear.
