It's not 1st Friday but I want to share Deb's Alcohol Ink paintings. Lords a'Leaping:. does she practice art! I spent the day with her playing and teaching at Play Out of The Box Summer Retreat in NJ on Wednesday.
There are lots of different techniques using alcohol inks in bottle and pen form. The Blender Solution from Ranger is based on Ethyl Alcohol - not isopropyl. I use Ethyl Alcohol with them. Yes, they stink! Here's a recent video using copic markers (or any alcohol markers). You can use cotton swabs, cotton balls and blender tools to move the inks and blending solutions around.
Deb is a retired grade school teacher. She calls herself an Art Dabbler. I like that. It's all the fun and none of the pressure of "Artist" and it's exactly what we've been talking about lately.
A list of supplies
Great fun with these colorful little cards! For some reason I never thought of using Yupo paper -- go figure! Just a quick comment. Copic markers are professional artist quality markers with highly pigmented colors that will last a very long time. They retail for $5+ each marker. Spectrum Noir are craft quality markers and not as pigmented. I have no doubt that they will fade over time since all craft markers do -- the chemistry to prevent this is not cheap. And as you know Noir markers cost $6 for a set.

I figured that was the reason. There is always a good reason to buy high quality art supplies. I’m glad to have the Noir ones as I have been experimenting and am thinking of beginning to collect the Copics. Thanks for the info!

My local real art store has Copics go on sale for just over $4 once or twice a year. Michael's used to carry Copic basic sets but usually their bottom of the line. One of their 40% coupons would a huge help. Do you know which version this artist uses?
