I flipped through some old journals yesterday from 2009.
Isn't that funny! It really cracked me up. And so does this one:
Over the years, my critic (Stewie) has really taken on a full personality and is sympathetic in a way. Surprising. But really. Look at this guy! I also stumbled across some flowers that have been an obsession for a long time. I dreamed of a field of them once. They are Chiming Bell flowers and make lovely music!
I played with the Molotow Masking pen in this video. I am enjoying this pen. It's a very easy way to mask with much less mess than the liquid frisket. Here's the video.
Here are some of the supplies I used (affiliate links). I'll try to keep up over here but am working on another Curious class. It looks like I need to have another surgery and so am trying to meet that deadline. Thanks for all your support gang. You folks are the best.
Thanks for the video - I love the way the masking fluid works - need to get me some. Good luck on your surgery Diana.

Thanks JoAnn. I’ll let you folks know when (and if) the surgery is coming. I just found those pens recently and was surprised at how well they work. I suppose you can just get the empty markers and fill it with your own masking fluid too. Fun!

Thanks for another great romp through your journals. Always so interesting...what others do in their books. I'd rather look at a journal than finished artwork. I just dug out an empty Montana marker and a new bottle of masking fluid and later I'll try filling the marker. We'll see how it goes. I really have to start using up some of my stuff but it's so hard when every day brings something new I "need".
Sorry you might be going through more surgery. Stay well.

Thanks Suzanne. Let me know how the filled marker works.

I really enjoyed you paging through a previous art journal that you had made. They are masterpieces - each page!!! I love your inner critic - that is interesting - I will have to envision mine - .... hmmm.....

Well unfortunately the two bottles of masking fluid I had weren't the least bit fluid....more like thick gunk....impossible to fill the empty marker. I suppose at one point they were more fluid, but not now, so I guess I'll have to buy one of those markers you used. Woe is me. Let this be a lesson. Just because something is new, doesn't mean it hasn't gone bad on the sly, so use up that stuff and don't save anything for later.

Hi Sue, I’m glad you enjoyed the flip. I have a lot to say about the critic issues. Search my blog for Taming the Critic, Stewie or Critic. There’s also some info in my book. Stay warm and safe this weekend. - xo

Oh geez, that stuff can get gummy. It usually takes a long time though! If you bought them recently, I’d return it. Let me know how the blank marker works. I thought there might be something special about the tips on the Molotow markers but there isn’t.

I love the masking markers--I get much better control using them than when using masking fluid in a jar---plus the marker is easier to remove

I bought the masking fluid ages ago. Hardly ever use it so both jars went bad. I'm just going to try the Molotow marker you used because I've had my eye on them anyway. No sense in buying another jar and watching it harden up. The marker looks more like drawing and I like that. Also, the tips on the Montana markers are most likely the same as the Molotow markers. I bought a few of them in different sizes with a Michael's coupon a while ago. They had to get them out of a locked case and no one knew how to unlock the case. Took a while. They hated me in that store because I was always buying those markers.

Loved the peek into your journals Diana . . . they are from the time when I first found your blog! And the masking fluid marker, I want . . . no, NEED one! And miracle of miracles, I can get them here!

I think those markers have been out on th market for years. I ‘m glad you’ll be able to give them try. Watch for another review of them.
