Happy National Craft Month. This is the second video in the DIY Card Kit series aka "Free to Embellish"
As you may have noticed, the card making bug has gone viral around these parts. A defining moment came when, whilst crafting with my daughter, I wondered, idly and out loud, if perhaps we needed Embellishments. There was an outpouring of glee. (There's a video down there, if you'd like to skip the folderol.)
I put on my big girl pants and went to Michael's. I've seen this stuff before, and even bought some of it. I've not really understood what the fuss was all about. It's cluttery and for those of us with a bit of ADD, it's confusing. (Look! A bird just flew by!)
So I had a think and came up with some storage. I am easily frustrated and confused (see: Look! A Bird) when surrounded by clutter so it's really important for me to be tidy with this *ahem* stuff (I'm trying not to cuss this year.
I keep things in small bowls when crafting with said ... stuff. But my daughter! OMG - She's ruthless. It's like crafting with The Terminator. I swear that girl tried to pluck a glued-down sequin right off my project one night. Like a seagull after a clam.
Back to a more civilized world, I do like these silicone muffin cups and use them often.
I'm liking this whole paper crafting thing enormously. I am allowed to like this kind of stuff even though I went to Art School. And I like glitter too. And look! I put sequins on a card! It's for my dear Auntie who will love it.
Oh man, it was a load of fun to make the inlaid die cut. It took me at least three nights and problem solving. Kept me busy. I like engineering challenges. If you are still reading this post, thank you. If you skipped down to the video from way up there ^ that's ok. I'm on a ramble today. Over there in the sidebar you'll see links for Scrapbook.com and SimonSaysStamp.com. Embellishments galore can be found there as well as your basement, yard, thrift shop, mail, etc. (Affiliate links. Thanks for your support.)
And the video
You make me laugh (in a good way).

I really enjoyed your video...........made me smile the way you talked about all that stuff. I have sooooooooooooooo much stuff and I try to keep it somewhat organized, but it never fails.....when I want that specific thing, I cannot find it!! Maybe it is my age.............losing my memory.....LOL Can't wait til your next video!!

I am loving these videos! And, I always read the words...it's the teacher in me!

Hey! If you write it, we'll read it! Nice haul. Nothing to do with art or stuff...but, cussing is very liberating. I try to do it as much as possible and there's always something to cuss about these days. No reason to stop. I'm too old to try.

Card making -- the new scrapbooking. Popular for awhile then it'll be gone. Tons of fun, though.

LOL:"I swear that girl tried to pluck a glued-down sequin right off my project one night. Like a seagull after a clam." So funny! And I am also easily distracted and confused by clutter - glad to know I'm not the only one.

My daughter got a kick out of that line, too. She’s really a most wonderful person and funny as all get out. That distracted/confused thing has only gotten worse as I get (gracefully) older. How about you?

Oh yes, I love that dish. It says on “japan” on the bottom. I collected a few from a tiny store in Chesterton, MD. Twigs Teacups. Look! They have a Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/TwigsTeacups/

I’m enjoying it from the aspect of design (as well as the “playing with toys). It’s kind of fun to strengthen that “elements of design set of skills. It’s definitely harder to keep all those bits and bobs in order. I’m addicted. lol.

lol, my kids can attest to my colorful vocab. I’m trying to reach for more descriptive words I think. Another game to play with my head. Makes the swearing so much more satisfying. Too old to try. Hah. And just for clarity. Apparently I’m not doing a great job.

Then I’ll keep writing those words and hopefully they will be read. I’m really getting into the videos, Paula. Thanks for watching! I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying them.

Thanks Sharon! I recently listened to a presentation on organization. The presenter said use the 5 minutes rule: 5 minutes to tidy after crafting, throw in the wash, clean out your brushes. #GoodIntentions ;)

Oh, Diana, I'd follow you on a ramble any day! Your description of your daughter's seagull instincts is pure funny. Thanks for the LOL and for reminding me not to be too harsh on glitter. Here's a really long hashtag....cluttermakesmecuss!

Yes, unfortunately, it has. Soon I'll have to wear blinders or tunnel-vision glasses!
