I'm catching up with the March card kit from Simon in today's video. It's just a flip through of cards that I'll be donating to a local nursing home.
Today's video is another chatty one (but not very long!). After the cortisone shot in my hand last week, I'm finally getting some relief. I'll be continuing with less intense computer work (such as editing and highlighted links.

Distress Oxides & no heat foiling tutorial is coming up using this kit! It is sold out at this point (that was really quick) but you can get some of the elements from the links below or use what you have.
Let's do some no-heat foiling with this kit as well. I've posted several videos of these techniques and a full class on foiling without a laminator. Check out my foiling class here:

Valentine's Day snuck up on me this year. That means another bonus Friday video for you all :) I wanted to get this idea for making small notes out to you for the weekend.
It's such fun playing with pretty papers from the Simon kit but you could go around the corner to your craft store (or dig into your stash) and find plenty of stuff to make cards like these. So channel your inner 12 year old and let's play.
I pulled some ink colors that matched the dec paper but you could just write a note inside. Keep Is Simple. The only messy thing was the glitter glue. But c'mon! It's Valentine's Day. I used Liquitex Gloss & Mat Medium (DickBlick below). Glossy glues like the Glossy Accents are great for gluing shiny stuff because it intensifies the sparkle. The Liquitex is so much cheaper and a great product.
I love kits. They make crafty so easy. I keep an eye on Simon's and Hero Arts kits. I don't subscribe though. They are great little stash builders for new stampers.
I hope you enjoy today's video. Watch it here on YouTube (like, share, comment and subscribe).

You can get Distress Glitter Vintage Platinum and Glossy Accents at Scrapbok.com or Simon
Rosie Cheeks Ink from SSS Archival Ink in Coffee from any of these comapnies BUT!!! Liquitex Glossy Mat Medium at DickBlick It's less expensive than Glossy Accents.
Jon popped into the studio in the middle of filming and playing all dressed up for the Eagles parade. Speaking of our inner 12 year olds.
Have a great weekend, gang. I'm looking forward to Open Studio tomorrow!
I'm a sucker for Valentine's Day cards. This year, being sick all through December kept me from sending out holiday cards and gave me the perfect excuse to grab both this kit and the Simon January Kit (still available here). All that delicious red smack in the middle of February? Yes.
The salient details are in the video below so this is brief. The first card is very simple. I trimmed some of that delicious Shizen paper from the kit and used the Red Royal ink and embossed the 2nd layer in gold.
I used the Shizen paper and Gelly Roll Moonlight pens (links below video) to highlight one of the flowers. The XOXO stamp is from the Simon kit. This is my favorite card.
The Shizen paper is thick, handmade and beautifully printed with gold. It's fabric feel led me to stitching.
Textural ...
I ink my fancy Ampersand die cut and sent it through the die cut machine and the layered edges came out inked. Nice detail from a simple technique.
This was the fussiest card and it was kind of a pain, you'll see in the video. Do you think I went a little nuts with the sequins? Those little buggers have me under some kind of spell. I just covered a page in my mini journal with blue sequins.
I did enjoy this kit. I have a few more ideas for it. In particular, the layered stamps were fantastic to work with. Super easy and the vintage design was so valentine-y. Love it. The challenge of using these kits is fun for me. I hope that you enjoy see my process.

I used the Hero Arts January '18 Card Kit http://bit.ly/2Bkq5R5 Still available as of Feb 1
Oh Joy. A new computer. I still have lots of odds and ends to attend to. I'll worry about that tomorrow (or the next day). After spilling a full cup of (perfectly good!) tea into my computer last week, I was forced to deal with getting a new computer set up. Luckily, I had a hand me down Mac. Newer than the wet one.
For now, let's have a little Foiling Fun. Check out the video for some details.
Thermoweb asked if they could send me some product. This was an easy question to answer, their products are top drawer. Ever since I opened my first jar of glitter a couple of years ago, I haven't looked back and foiling is just delicious. I have a Royal Sovereign laminator (geek) and that's the laminator Thermoweb uses to test their products.
These are some of Gina K's products (above) I was really in love with the bright happy colors. The Rebekah Meir line is more subdued - perhaps a bit more to my tastes but since I make cards for so many friends and family members, it's really nice to have stuff that's out of my box.
Things you need to hot foil:
Toner Photocopy Prints. The toner heats up and that's what the foil sticks to. Foil Parchment Paper or printer paper Laminator - I would try whatever you have (or have access to). If it laminates, it should foil. (Ways to justify buying a laminator are numerous. I actually use it a fair amount for my little business and things around the house. They aren't very expensive.)
You can get toner copies made at Fed Ex, Kinko's, etc. And they have nice heavy cardstock.
I didn't show the laminator in the video. It's a simple process
Preheat your Laminator for about 15 minutes.
Fold the carrier sheet in half and open Lay the toner copy (art) to be foiled on the right side of the fold Lay the foil on top of the art with the PRETTY side UP, yes. Pretty side up, because you want the pretty side up when it's stuck to your artwork. Refold the paper. Now you have a sandwich with a folded on the left.
(Wow, LOOK! A bonus shot of my beautiful toes.)
Insert the folded edge into the laminator. It will suck the sandwich and roll it out the other end.
Let it cool for a moment and open your package!!! Oh my. All ready to be colored in with markers.
Here's a card I made using one of Gina K's Foil Mates. They are a pretty cool product that has loads of papers and sentiments, etc. You'll see more in the video.
I think my Aunt Betty will really like this card.
Here are a couple of drawings that you can print out on cardstock and either print or copy with toner.
I hope you enjoyed this project today. You can use these images but, naturally, they are not for resale. I know that I should have some copyright info but darn PicMonkey isn't working. So, right. Don't sell them, OK? Thanks
Check out my online foiling class here. None of the techniques in the class need a laminator.
Here are some affiliate links. If you do any holiday crafts, this is a good time to try some foiling. I'm making placecards for Thanksgiving with the acorn. (Love acorns).

Pattern building is both fun and challenging and today I hope to share a couple of tips and tricks with you. I do love pattern but it's never featured largely in my artwork and so a little push was needed and a bit of learning came my way.
Today I'm using Gelli Arts prints, stamps, stenciled and painted background to layer pattern. You can use your resulting paper stash in book arts, art journaling, mixed media and for card backgrounds. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I made some heart shaped cards.
Enjoy the video and let me know how you like to layer pattern or do you find it visually overwhelming? Do you wear different prints at the same time? Or match prints with textures? Look around your home or at some artwork. I love hearing from you.
Hey Gang, You are either still in a food stupor, shopping or briskly walking off all those extra calories we US citizens consumed yesterday. Yeah! We sure know how to EAT! Black Friday is traditionally my day to start my holiday crafting. We don't really do gifts anymore. One or two, maybe.
These are a few of the cards I made as samples for upcoming card classes in my studio. I've set up a box for each card with the papers trimmed to size and any stamps needed. There will be plenty of room for improv as well but beginners will have everything at their fingertips.
These two cards (above and below) use the same Ellen Hutson die set. I experimented with non-traditional papers in the second one. I'll be back with more videos.
The Geo Tree and Joy die cuts are from Ellen Hutson, everything else is Simon Says Stamp. Supplies are all listed beneath the video. Use what you have. I try to find supplies that are neutral so they can be used in many different ways.

Crafting season is upon us! Zippity Do Dah :) I'm holding a cardmaking MeetUp on Black Friday here in the studio (Philly area). Over the past couple of years, I've (ahem) accumulated a few toys and am eager to share!
I've had friends, neighbors and family over to test out my cardmaking teaching techniques and feel ready to let it loose on the world at large.
Some cards are quick and easy, for beginners or for making multiples. Some are great to do with kids. Some don't reference the holidays at all
I hope you'll join me! Email me or join me on MeetUp (it's free) to RSVP. Here's the video showcasing more cards, showing some of my supplies and giving ideas of ways to use your own supplies. PS: I have a Art Journal MeetUp on Nov. 19 as well.

One way to avoid an artist's block is to keep your hands busy even while your brain is on vacation.
In today's video, see a demo of the new Heidi Swapp toner based screen printing ink and mist. This is a good time of year (for me) to do small tasks, try things out and play in a not-so-focused way. This may be the best way to ward off artist's block. Especially for very busy people. Carving out a few minutes a day for any kind of artistic play puts you in the winners circle.

Here area some affiliate links. Scrapbook.com had some really great prices on both the Mini Minc machine and MISTI stamping tool. (As of today, July 22). These are larger purchases. If you teach or share your tools, you can justify a purchase like this by sharing costs. I like them both a lot. As usual, use what you have.
Mixing patterns can be such fun if you understand a few tricks. The same guidelines apply to clothes, decorating your home and art. And the tips aren't hard.
Find your inspiration paper with color and a large pattern
Isolate the colors
Find papers with those colors and smaller or geometric prints
To build out further, find another inspiration piece that contains another color (or two)
Repeat steps 2 and 3!
Use the papers for art journal pages. I love using them as borders around a page or box that will contain some writing. You can use these papers for layers on cards. Sew or weave the scraps together and create tags or ATC's. Include some hand painted papers in the mix for a more personal look.
If you don't have paper pads, you may have a failed painting (or at least I do ;) Cut it up and use it as your inspiration. Pull old book pages, gelli prints, leftover stencils bits. Use What You Have this weekend and play with paper.
